Yes, I have to agree with the previous poster.
I can get behind the symmetry, but it doesn't look good if we do pseudo 4-way symmetry (with the letters stretched vertically). You can see in the original mock-up that it was still squished slightly in the vertical dimension and this preserves the letter look. When we stretch it out to the dimensions above it looks like squiggles and gift-wrap: not letters of a logo.

As far as the tapering, I feel it's necessary to preserve the yin-yang aspect and prevent the logo from degenerating into a typical logo.
