As for 'the singularity', I call bullshit on that one too. It can't be done. Someone show me a compelling argument that it's theoretically possible for machines to have consciousness, and I will eat my words.
We're not even concrete on what consciousness
is. We don't know the mechanism of it, we don't know why it happened, we don't know why it stops. About the only thing we
do know is that there is
a lot we do not know.
