They increased the payouts by 3x for christmas, I doubt making another mode available for payment would cost them that much extra. And considering your logic, normal ARAM's shouldn't work either cause people get more kills/assists there than on summoner's rift. I think it's just a "no time to change cause of holidays/laziness/something else".
