The only way to prevent this is to only invest or give your bitcoins to people you trust.  Once a bitcoin is sent, there is no feasible way to get it back unless the other person sends it back.  Aka, if they are trying to scam you, the bitcoins are gone and you cannot get them back.  Do not transact with paypal or any other reversible payment gateway and bitcoin, you are likely to get scammed.
