Make sure that you are using the latest version:

Or if you wish to compile yourself, use 0.4.2 branch here:

 https://github.com/ppcoin/ppcoin/tree/0.4.2

Unfortunately, once you get the latest software, you may have to delete and re-download the blockchain a 3rd time but it should work well after that.
