Honestly sounds like you might be better off doing a clean install of it. Just back up your wallet, uninstall the program, and wipe out anything that's left in appdata or program files directories (assuming this is windows). Reinstall and let it resync after that.
i think that has already been tried, deleting blockchain and redownloading, it got stuck, for me it did work tho , maybe patience is the magic ingredient
I just didn't know if he actually wiped out the program files too, who knows what could be wrong with his install
