It's not unreasonable that SBI would be looking into multiple blockchain technologies at the same time. Also the announcement they made regarding mijin/Dragonfly Fintech also involved Nomura Research Institute, so this could be a different endeavor altogether. Personally I don't think it really matters anyway, with so many other places in Japan expressing interest in mijin and NEM.
