The main points are as follows:

(+) 2%  interest rate is now static. It was dynamic before, meaning that it was never really reached because not all coins are being staked.
(+) The new stake modifier to prevent mining blocks in the future.
(+) Removal of coin age, meaning that you can't cheat the system no more by 'not staking' and then going all in when a block with a big reward shows up.
