Are you sure you contacted the authentic greenaddress staff? I'm pretty sure that they don't charge to provide instructions on how you could potentially recover your account. Or perhaps I'm interpreting your words incorrectly.

We don't charge for instructions, you're right;

However in this case his request required some ad-hoc coding and ad-hoc security procedure to help him out so we asked for him to cover those costs.
