Conditions aren't set yet that's what I'm here to ask.
Looking at various countries minimum wages $8-10 could be quite a lot,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_minimum_wages_by_country txbtc even went ahead and completed the first file before I could even begin to agree upon a price and it seems he expects $8 for it, so it can't be too outlandish that he jumped on it that fast.
By conditions I meant if you expect a "perfect" transcription (for example, in the typing job there was no need to keep images or side notes, etc.), etc.
Sure, there are countries where 8 USD is a lot, but:
- Having the possibility of earning a month or a year of salary, why would someone work for a day of it? (just to be a low-lifer and get all the work for him?, he would be working much more for barely a few extra dollars)
- This is not a minimum wage job, or I do not know in other countries, but here billingual call center agents (which at first sounds like a "no-skill" job) are paid 2x MW
- Most (if not all) countries where English is a national/native language (or with a high percentage of people fluent in it) are in the 1st world, i.e. a person working on this for a low salary does not value his time/skills (speaking English to a level most people in his country don't) or will deliver bad-quality results
- I do not think there are many Cubans or Ugandans around this forum, also, in most countries with low MW Bitcoin/Paypal is more or less useless
Hopefully you will pay him what he asked for, even if the final rates are higher...
..If you ever pay him, he started at 16:35 (possibly 16:51) and ended at 17:28 (from the timestamps of his messages, GMT -5)... if the file is 1:06, how could that be possible? (it must take at least the 1:06 to hear the whole audio, and not even with perfect ears and astonishing typing speed would you finish in that time).
Everyone is reserving audios without the rates being announced. I want 17 or 19 (whichever is available), but I will wait for the rates to be established.
Finally, I want to clarify that I am not criticizing you in any way. If you get someone to do the job appropriately for cents, great for you! (I am not a syndicalist advocating for people's "rights", let alone idiots' rights).
