As for receiving an email confirmation after creating an account, I'm not sure. I created an account in 2014. I cannot remember if their is an email confirmation or not. Maybe someone else can help you with this. Kano, may be able to assist you.

I've registered week or to ago and conf. e-mail came quickly.
Check SPAM folders, add kano.is to whitelist and yes as written on kano website, you need this confirmation e-mail.
