Yep your more then welcome to open and close the wallet.. Switch mining on and off... All as you please.. Your wallet behavior has no bearing on your interest both standard and term deposit interest is handled on the blockchain.. The wallet is simply a tool used to access the blockchain..

But how can I put HODL into a deposit with a address from a wallet on a computer, and then claim the coins from another wallet from another computer ?

Dump the deposit addresses private key.. then import that key in to the other wallet.. let me know if you need this broken down to steps..

1. Run HOdlcoin-QT (open the wallet)
2. Select Help
3. Select Debug Window
4. Select Console
5. If you encrypted your wallet, unlock it by entering walletpassphrase "YourLongPassphrase" 600
6. Type importprivkey

Example: importprivkey 5KJvsngHeMpm884wtkJNzQGaCErckhHJBGFsvd3VyK5qMZXj3hS
