A unit that is free to the Bitcoin Foundation is still paid for by someone - in this case by Avalon. Bitcoin doesn't grow on merkle trees, you know.
If they have paid order for 300 units and give one extra for free, it means they ship 301 units and have still 299 left, you know!

So they have to send 301 units.
Or do you think that they send you an mail and say "Sorry organofcorti, we have given away 1 piece, now you get only 4 units instead of the 5 ordered" ?
