It appears that the entire fiasco was crafted to destroy Matonis and Andresen.
He has apparently taken the fall in order to hand more power to those who are not Matonis and Andresen.
But the saga may not be fully played out yet...
well, crafted or not, their reputation has been compromised forever
and as you say, i wonder what comes next.

I can't say for sure that his was bluffing from the start, but this ending made me think he is not suitable for being a leader of bitcoin revolution.
