Usually as a newbie they get a bad habit of posting anything that comes to mind that is not relevant to topic being discussed.
So yes it is better to rank yourself up before joining a campaign so you know the rules of the forum and not to make it harder for the other members to navigate the forum with unless nonsense from newbie members that do not know how to post contributing conversations but garbage to clog up the threads.

i started with the left foot but i like the forum a lot.
im here since february, but i just start to post a few days ago.
