Thanks for the advice everyone! I'll spend more time looking through the forums and learning up on Bitcoin. I'll limit my faucets to the ones that give ~1500 satoshi once a day so I can have some to experiment/play around with. I'll look at the altcoin ones as well 
Excellent - you can have fun trading with some alts that cost under 20 satoshis - choose ones with high volume/volatility and get a feel for trading. Or you could buy staking coins and play with staking them.
Watch out, though. It's addictive!
