In order to prove it's not illegal, please link your Steam profile so we can see you indeed have those gifts on your personal account.
It's impossible to know if it's illegal or not. If you see them in his personal inventory it just means that he have them and it doesn't mean they are legit because they could be carded (bought using stolen credit card).
