My debug file reported:
"ERROR:Caddman: :Read() : open failed" and
"ERROR: GetMyExternalIP() : connection to ... failed"
"No valid UPnP IGDs found"
After seeing your message I created another .conf file in notepad, but saved it as "all files" .conf to avoid the .txt extention. Still getting same debug errors, then "Unloading wallet" and "HoboNickels exited". My firewall is set to allow HoboNickels. I'm using the same modem as my good HoboNickels wallet.
I'm wondering whether some ISPs are blocking peer-to-peer connections and whether it's new wallet installations that are affected?
enable UPnP on your modem/router
PROBLEM SOLVED ... THANKS! I had assumed that my modem had UPnP enabled since all my other wallets supplied by that modem were all working well. I went into my modem's settings and enabled UPnP. My two new HoboNickels wallets are now syncing away.
I was installing them to see if there were any problems as was reported earlier by one contributor. I also wanted to use the addnode= function.
So for anyone experiencing peer-to-peer node problems with their wallet try addnodes= from a list of peers, make sure your firewall is set to allow your wallet's QT .exe, and make sure UPnP is enabled on your modem.
Strange - I wonder why I never had this problem with all my other wallets over the last few years using the same modem.
