How is it possible to transfer a Clash royale account?

I thought that Clash royale accounts are linked to Google Play account?

You can only transfer from IOS to Android or Android to IOS, unless you give the Game Center account or google play account. You can get a link code when you go to settings and press link to another device. You then enter the code on the other device and the account is there now
