Hi Ryananda well as of now, I know that bitcoins are really used as a method of payment online. We can use bitcoins for shopping I just forgot the site that accepts bitcoins as a payment but it online casinos and dice sites that bitcoins are majorly accepted.I have to admit that your right, the change significant change in the conversion rate of bitcoin will cause significant loss or gains to the ones selling it. So maybe they will set some allowance for it.
