It's a very common theme for gambling addicts to beg for money from strangers (since they alienated alienated everyone they know after "asking" to borrow money, while at the same time not taking responsibility for their addiction in the first place. More often than not, they end up loosing the borrowed money end up not paying their loan back.

So my short answer is no people posting sob stories should never be given money.
