In my own opinion, the only profit we can gain in gambling is that forgetting all problems we had in such a little period of time. But theres gambling that requires skills and knowledge that we can get profit for short term or long term but it also depends in our emotions. 
maybe for an addicted person they can forget the feeling or forgetting their urge in addiction towards gambling but gambling can become a source of a problem for other people that are still not addicted to it and I think that getting addicted to gambling really is a start of their addiction.
