Usually pool, depend on your mining power. If you have enough power you can solo mine and find a block in some days. But this require a lot of power, so, pool

Most people still use GPU but well, a single 1300$ ASIC has enuff power to mine like 250GPU... so even 1 person with this ASIC kickass 250 people with a gpu.
