i think it will be better to tell him in advance. i think it is his right to tell him so that he may know in advance that for what purpose he has given money to you.

Of course op wants to have assurance on what you are going to do with it so that he will be on comfort to know what he is going to do with 10 bitcoin.
But for me I'm just going to keep holding it until the price is going to satisfy me and then sell it.

All things that you say here is the basis of OP what he's going to do with his bitcoin. That's why he post it and try to get any ideas what's the best to do with that amount of coins.
