An S7 can only mine sha256 coins, not espers.
Couldn't you update the software to some none standard thing and use it for another algo? I think I have seen it done before
No, it's an ASIC, the chips are tailor made to run a fixed algo.
I think he is mistaking an FPGA for a ASIC, yeah sure you can reprogram them to mine different algorithms but not ASIC... Period.
Well I was just curious yesterday and tried to connect my miner on suprnova espers pool. I got at least connected on the pool.
Interesting... did you get any valid shares?
I think not, because I was there only for few moments. I use antminer s2, strange that it was able to get thru.
getting through is not an issue... stratum connection will be established to the pool if your credentials are correct...
i just setup a standalone pool (didnt want to flood the nova pool), tried it, connected and got nothing but share rejections of hundreds of solved block simply because of the s2 hashes sha256 ... i.e. we attempted to solve the wrong question...
i think it was a mistake to list it as ASIC while it could be FPGA
