I posted a concern somewhere at sometime about amounts being withdrawn from my wallet. I was told that it was a charge for announcing my host on the network. I've been hosting for a couple months, and right now, at this moment, I have 10 peers, 18 contracts. BUT, Sia is using my storage, Sia has made a noticeable impact on my Internet speed, I have not earned a single sia, AND I have a bunch of withdrawals that have nothing to do with announcements:

So, after months of having my resources used, putting up with spikes in Internet usage that slow my network, not earning anything, and have sia withdrawn from my account - I am transferring my balance to Poloniex, shutting down the host/wallet, and liquidating the remaining sia I have.
It seems I had a similar experience in the early days of hosting. However, I did have personal files stored myself from my wallet thus I felt that I had to pay for those files of mine being stored as well. So I wasn't sure if I was making anything off of what ...I was paying to store my own data lol or at least it seemed that way.
Anyways, what you say rings a bell. So rather then tie up storage space etc. as you described, I moved on and stopped for now while Sia develops and goes truly mainstream. I think any of us wanting to host will fair much better then. Right now its still slim picking's.
But don't throw in the towel yet!

PS: I am still a steady 24/7 sizeable miner and growing. Start ya up a farm!
