The only other crypto currency I can think of replacing the bitcoin is the Ethereum. Many bitcoiners are buying it.
I think so. The Ethereum trading volume is even higher than the bitcoin at the moment. So people are interested in it.
Yes ethereum is doing a good job now but still it is below bitcoin and really far. A lot are supporting ETH yes but with popularity and usage now it is still bitcoin who have the most. Maybe someday it will change.
bitcoin and eth is not only about the value/price and how big the trading volume is.
the important part is the technology. that is what makes a coin valuable. and as far as i see it bitcoin and eth are very different and both have a purpose.
but bitcoin can be replaced if there is a coin that serves the same purpose as bitcoin and does it better.
I think it's safe to say that the majority of the people don't give a damn about the technology side of Bitcoin and other crypto currencies.
They just focus on the price going up higher and higher so they can make money in a very short time. That's all they care about.
For me personally the technology side of Bitcoin is very important because its decentralized nature allows us to store money outside the reach of banks and governments.
