Small update:
I might look into helping out with the wallet upgrade, but I will be mainly focusing on making my own coin. It will have features that some of you may find very useful.
Unfortunately my idea will require a major overhaul of the core codes and I think it would be best if I fork Vertcoin with the new features added in.
The features I want to add will change how the blocks are stored and the contents of the blocks.
In the meantime, I will be adding more features to the UI and will test it thoroughly. Hopefully I can get it ready before my school starts.
I'd be starting my third year in Computer Engineering soon.

PM me on reddit, we can add you to our vertcoin slack. We are all open to ideas. Lets see what we can do. It might be better to fork or work on an existing coin (vertcoin) that has some footing rather than start a new coin.
