Not exactly right. I agree that in gambling we lose money but here a lot of people make money from gambling, and they will use it for their personal use. For me, I never lost huge money in gambing and also i made some decent profit also i use it for my daly needs.
There was a guy crying hell yesterday and was saying he will commit suicide because he lost his 1.1btc in dice... so gambling actually wrecks the livs most of the times but there are some lucky people who manage to make a fortune with it....
