Let's put yourself into this position - you work full time as a developer and get a salary. everyone as a cost of living that must be paid. i'm sure you would do what was needed to make sure the bills were paid.
based on the numbers, it's not like these guys are funding a mansion in beverly hills.
in this case, being transparent as the expanse has been, proves to the public that they are working, not scamming.
