Monero will not "take over" Bitcoin, but there is no reason there can't be multiple cryptocurrencies that are all used for separate situations. Monero for regular purchases, Bitcoin for a store of value similar to gold, 
for etc. This is how it will likely be in the future. There is no one cryptocurrency that will "take over".
For today monero will not take over bitcoin, i agree, but if developer of monero keeps be updating and there are many people who support for monero include companies.
