Value is not everything in this case, because even if the value of bitcoin is higher but still USD will win the competition as the use of USD is more than bitcoin in the world, and if we convert all the bitcoins to dollars then that is possible but it wont be possible to convert all the dollars into bitcoin because bitcoin has a limited amount.
I think the rate and prices will have an effect here, what makes bitcoin is more special than the dollar? certainly among many people would call that bitcoin prices are higher than the dollar right? if bitcoin does not have a higher price. I'm not sure people would be interested in bitcoin IMO
 

It is because of its value. One more thing is there is only limited bitcoin to be mined and just like any other item that is limited e.g. paintings or cars they have a whooping value in the market for the demands.
In popularization no doubt for US Dollar since bitcoin is only 6 years exist but in the near future bitcoin would be more popular and it will be more liking investment for the big investor.
