I saw what was said about how the gov't would just shut it down. Sure - but with what cause? A "black op", if you will, would be smarter in this case. Sure, you could get the public to "boo" a site that infringes on copyrights (like megaupload), but can you get everyone against a decentralized currency that could potentially make the Federal Reserve obsolete? I don't think so.
I don't know about that. MegaUpload had a lot of support, and they didn't have a cause to do it, either. In fact, we learned later, they were not acting under the letter of the law.
Really, if the govt wanted to shut down a bitcoin/litecoin site, they just say it was laundering money for criminals. Cheap and Easy.
I just don't see the govt taking mining pools are a serious threat. Maybe they do, and I'm wrong, but it seems far fetched.
