eteherum will die some day, that is for sure but that day is not today, not yet anyways. because it is a bad coin with lots of bugs and bad history of manipulation ,... but this same manipulation is not yet over and there is a very high chance that it starts getting pumped real hard real soon.
Technically, it may not really die but can fall into insignificance due to the many reasons you cited. However, if they can soon fixed the problem then there is a strong possibility that it can regain what it lost in the past few weeks. Ethereum is known to be a very promising coin relative to Bitcoin and I do personally wish that it can be back on track soon.
