also the codebase xmr inherited from bytecoin was really messy etc, that's why development seems slow... but lots of developments already happened since launch in april 2014... just not the really visible kind (like a bling bling GUI, which actually is almost ready now)...
Well, your arguments do not really stack up.
Bytecoin which Monero was forked from has 100% refactored code - and managed to release gui as well as many of the 'under the hood' changes that Monero fan boys claim is taking place with their code to excuse the absence of visible ones.
