"Lightning" is an innovation ? I thought it was a tier, made necessary by the fact that Bitcoin can't innovate.

"segwit" is an innovation ? It's called stuffing more into less space - also made necessary by the fact that Bitcoin can't innovate. (See "Winzip")

Mimblewimble is yet another bitcoin non-compatible sidechain candidate (again, made necessary by the fact that...)

"Innovation" in this space is:

 • creating a dynamically articulated network topography that allows the network to scale natively without "bolt ons"
 • enhancing fungibility without simultaneously shooting yourself in the foot through creating an asymmetrically auditable coin supply
 • supporting a hi-fidelity cash archetype by giving priority to the front end of the confirmation window natively
 • have the protocol support non-native clients that can break the glass ceiling on "usability"

Just sayin - innovation can be many things, but one thing it isn't is "more of the same", which is why this....
