The more advanced civilization certainly increasingly converge all forms of payment including the currency. I believe, after the unification of European currencies, it will be overtaken by other regions and would eventually be a single currency. And bitcoin had the opportunity to become a global currency.
Bitcoin has all the chances, I agree. The beauty of it is that no one can manipulate Bitcoin. Well they can theoretically but in practice you are risking to lose lots of money if you are trying to do that. I mean billions of dollars, that's not something you can afford to risk easily.
