I agree it is really stupid to buy something that you don't understand, or didn't even take the time to read about.
In that case, though, I think it is OK. As long as one has enough strength to wait 18+ months, Iconomi will bring a very, very nice returns.
I did the same in the last 3 hours of the ICO. I´ve bought 14500 ICN without fully understanding the project, just because I heared the word "dividends". It wasn´t even in my mind that those tokens will be much more worthy than the ICO price was.
Afterwards I was really happy I did, and I´ve bought many many more on Kraken
You're lucky enough to have some 14K of it. I'm still planing to buy some but i would have to cash out some btc later.
I need to confirm though as to when and how much dividends they get.
