Some people can influence the price of bitcoin if they have enough of it. However, the point of bitcoin was to be independent of any government or bank, so it belongs to the people.

That is well said and true. It is like the natural resources, no one really own it but it is being influenced by those big companies when it comes to value. They can hold from mining or manufacturing just for the purpose of making a lot of demands which will lead to a higher price.
