I participated in a tech incubator in 2013 and the facility had several mining rigs in this utility closet running all day. That peaked my interest in the whole bitcoin thing. 
Probably 2012-2013, it is the time when there was a major amount of bitcoin users. Somewhere at the same time, I also began to act on the field cryptocurrency.
