It is not perfect, but no one has invented a better system for now.
Better system is republic. Complete freedom except if you intentionally injure someone. Enslavement and punishment only if you injure someone.
I think democracy remains an integral part of the republic, democracy is a system of society and the government to control them with a range of policy and legal literature. I am grateful to live in a democracy, freedom of speech to be given the right to legal protection and are not strictly limited.
