I think zcash has some tricks up their sleeve.
- trusted setup that can't be trusted
- impossible to check total coinsupply
- company behind Zcash taxes 20% of mining revenue during first 4 years
- optional anonimity (while default anonimity is much better)
- very young cryptography, not peerreviewed well
