There aren't many places remaining on earth where you can do what ever the fuck you want without some government regulating you. Yet I expect that these cases you cited are most prevalent in the populated areas, which btw are typically more leftist even in Texas and Florida.
Also the authorities may have shut down that cult for other reasons and simply used the legal code about sanitary water supply as an excuse to put a stop to a cult. Texas is still reeling from the Waco incident.
Florida is not conservative. Trump barely won in FL. Florida is highly leftist. And regardless of the political leanings, even the Republicans want government to control everything. They want to regulate so that no one has to live next to some shanty home. Fucking spoiled rich fuck American asshurls who care more about their perfectly manicured green lawn than conservative values. Republicans want profit. It is a tourism state. Everybody has their hand in the pot trying to get some portion of those revenues.
I do know for a fact (as of 2006), you could live off grid in rural West Texas.

The only "justifiable" standpoint in your view is at the very "right" of the chart from your (literally) skewed perspective. Everyone and everything else is communist. Your bitter tone implies frustration that the rest of the world doesn't share this perspective.
