Coz They're your Bitcoin Bank dude. I'm a coinbase User and I don't do Buy/Sell because It ain't available in my country. I haven't had any issue using it. I only Send/receive.
Nonetheless I'm moving away from the banks coz that ain't what bitcoin is all about.
If they can lock you btc and charge you monthly then they are the bank.
