When worse case becomes worst if anything you did isn't resulting into a good solution. I would advice that just let yourself secure together with your kids to have enough money to survive. And if he keeps on losing and he is unstoppable, too bad that losing a lot of money and to have nothing will be the way to stop him, I guess so.
