I have tried to sync the Iguana in all different ways and it just gets stuck:
It stays like this for hours and never completes sync and I can not access my balance

If it is a full node, just delete database and try again. Mine has been synced an hour ago (Mac).
if it is still stuck, try deleting ~/.iguana/tmp/KMD folder
especially if there was a forced quit of iguana, it could end up with bad data in the tmp folder
