which country? in my you can share links but not host files. so torrents are legal
torrents downloading and sharing at the same time, sharing is like hosting, so using torrents would be illegal in your country too
It's not downloading torrents that gets you in trouble (ISP's send warnings but never do shit unless you own a site like thepiratebay lol). It's when you seed the torrent, that's copyright infringement.
Ever wondering how your ISP finds out about torrents your downloading/seeding? It's not the ISPs that care it's who owns the content being shared.
Content owners usually have people search public torrent sites for their content, download them in a torrent software and sit and log IPs in the peer list. A basic IP lookup, they find which ISP that IP points to and email their abuse department with the torrent name.
I've been warning like 20 times by my ISP about torrents, they can't and won't do shit. There's too many people doing, they can't go after thousands if not millions of people lol.
I've switched to private torrent sites that are invite-only, almost 2 years with no warnings. I've seeded over 4 TB worth of content and not one warning. phone call or email from my ISP.
They never go after the user but after the source (the torrent site hosting the torrents). I know it's stupid since content is not hosted on the website but on user computers yet they go after the site that just lists torrents.
