Just wanted to advise that it seems the latest nightly for Kodi (17.1 RC1) appears to resolve the crashes with tifossi's streams. Grab it now from http://mirrors.kodi.tv/nightlies/ for your platform (I have the 14-Feb build on Windows and 16-Feb build on macOS and both are working perfectly). Makes a good thing even better
