Is it true that blockchain.info increased the miners fee? Or it's automatic because I have a transaction and I find it unusual.

Saying 20-30 minutes to send is different than 2-3 hours I hope they know.
After paying over $1 in just the transaction fee for a $40 send doesn't make much sense to me if I had just put the minimum suggested of $0.46 instead.
