OP posted this when price was around $450. today it is @ $1147. that is +250% in 10 months.

A very good statistic to keep track from... what else could have given him +250% gains?
He went from $5,400 to $13,764 and all he did was sit on his bitcoins. He would have probably losses his investment in the altcoin market.
It seems clear to me: holders always win, but of course, if you want bigger faster gains, you must take bigger risks than just holding.
